The first step to beginning your journey is to choose a marian feast day on which to make your consecration. There is no rule that says you MUST make the consecration at the end of the preparation period. If you choose to delay or not to make the consecration on the day you have chosen, you will only be the richer for the time you spent in prayer. So go ahead... begin your journey!

Choose from the following list of suggested marian feast days to identify the start of your 33-day preparation period. You may choose a marian feast day that is not listed as well.

While there is value in following the suggested 33-day schedule, there is no harm in starting earlier than the suggested start day or later depending on your time availability. How much time you devote to your preparation may also depend on whether this is your first effort at consecration or a subsequent renewal. Sometimes it helps to add a few extra days onto the schedule to allow for skipping days. For annual renewals, some have spent as little as three focused days in prayer and preparation (one day for each week).
